Our life is a result of the choices we make. And little changes we make for the better in our habits and actions on a continuous basis for a prolonged period can have a huge impact on our wellbeing.
Here are some of the ways that can help improve the quality of our life:
1) Practice gratitude
Gratitude has one of the highest frequencies in the universe. Giving thanks to all the wonderful things we have and counting our blessings right after we wake up, can be a great start to our day. Starting the day in the mind space of positivity and peace will not only make the day more joyful but can be a powerful tool to attract more blessings and abundance into our lives.
2) Practice mindfulness
Mindfulness can be practiced while we are doing anything— cooking a meal, brewing a hot cup of coffee, washing our dishes, sitting, laying down, watering plants, playing, singing, and so on. It simply implies living in awareness of the now. So next time while you are brewing a cup of coffee, rather than multi-tasking, pause and pay attention to the sound of the water boiling, notice its colour change as you add the coffee and milk, feel the steam on your face, and be very vigilant of the taste and the sensations , the sip of coffee creates in your body. This practice when done regularly can make our focus and patience better, and can give a sense of peace.
3) Change your thoughts
Our thoughts give rise to our emotions. So, there is no use of thinking about the negative past instances or constantly worrying about the future. Rather, its more conducive to try and change our thoughts to reflect how we would actually like to feel.
When this becomes a habit, we are able to live a happier life both mentally and emotionally.
4) Spend time in nature
Spend time outdoors has a remarkable effect on our well-being. Walk in nature or practice grounding by walking bare foot on the grass. Even if we can spare 10 minutes for this, it will be a great way to rejuvenate, relax and de-stress.
5) Invest time doing little things, which make us happy
Society unfortunately gives more importance to work than to being present in the moment and being happy and satisfied. But if we are constantly just working and being busy, our life becomes monotonous may lead to stress and depression. So, though it is very important to work, for our own well-being, it is equally important to slow down, have fun, do things that make us feel excited and happy. So, prioritize those little things which are fun or add genuine value to our life— attend a concert, travel to a new destination, cook your favorite meal, cozy up and read a book along with a cup of coffee, etc.
